Serious decluttering kick today

I'm not a super tidy person.  Any of my friends or family can attest to that fact (haha).  Although I'm not the neatest or most organized person, I do have my breaking point.  I'm sure the New Year has a lot to do with it, but today I felt like decluttering...decluttering, a lot.  Decluttering.  Is that a word?  It looks funny and my spellcheck keeps flagging it.  Oh well, I'll Google it later.  Either way, I'm going to keep saying it because this is my blog and I like it.

Anyway, in preparation for the upcoming Winter Quarter I decided to clean off my desk...which spiraled into cleaning out my room...which spiraled into laundry...and so on and so forth.  Frustrating thing is that, even though I've thrown out a lot of junk and I'm calling it a night, it still looks sort of cluttered around here.

So much for decluttering.

My 2012 New Year's Resolutions

I'll be honest...I'm tired.  I've spent the last four hours de-cluttering my workspace in preparation for the beginning of Winter Quarter.  So here is a very rough list of my resolutions goals for this year.  To be edited later.
  • Start a blog
  • Start a YouTube channel
  • Do the Tone It Up fitness challenge
  • Get back on the 17 Day Diet
  • Write a weekly cleaning routine and create a Household Notebook
  • Do the FLYlady challenge
  • Start couponing/stockpiling again
  • Try consistent meal planning
  • Try consistent freezer cooking
I hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year.  I hear tomorrow is when everyone goes back to work.  Three-day-weekend over.  It will be interesting to see what happens with the 520 bridge tomorrow.  I understand why they added a toll, but I also don't understand.  I also know that I won't be using that bridge anymore.  I'll drive all the way around or all the way to I-90 thankyouverymuch.

Quick story about today (well technically yesterday since it is 2:30 in the morning):  It was mostly an uneventful day.  I spent most of it doing chores, checking items off my to-do list, and dreaming about my goals for the year (and also making them happen).  We did however manage to make it to the park for an hour or so--even though it was cold and windy.  Rhoslyn's first request when she woke up was "Momma can we go to the slides?"  I couldn't turn the girl down, I had already pushed back "the slides" one day...and so we went.  It was so cold!  Brrr.  I'm shivering in my chair just thinking about it, but the girls loved it.  Camilla had never been down the tall, dark tunnel slide before.  Being the champion mommy that I am, I went down with her the first time so that she wouldn't be afraid...and that was all it took.  She ran back around, climbed the big toy right quick, stuck her feet in the slide, and away she went.  Funniest part of my day: when she arrived at the bottom of the slide (where I was waiting) she was no longer feet-first, but head-first and face-up.  The look of shock on her face was hysterical.  She didn't know whether to cry or to laugh.  I broke the ice with a laugh, she joined me.  It was a moment.

Hope this post was at least somewhat coherent.  Gonna go catch me some Zzz now.  Goodnight all!

First post of 2012...!

Happy New Year everyone!

Yes, I'm still awake...

I'm going to bed as soon as I post this, promise.  I just really wanted to play with Blogger a little bit and get something posted ASAP.  One of my resolutions for 2012: start a blog.  So, here it is.

When I was brainstorming resolutions, blogging kept coming to my mind.  I'm not sure if Blogger lets you see when its blogs are first created, but if you can, you'll notice that I started this blog back in 2009 (don't quote me on that--it was a few years ago).  I had good intentions, but never stuck with it for some reason.  This is the year that I stick with it!  I can feel it!

I really hope I'm not setting myself up for failure, but for my resolution I want to write not for just one blog--but two!

For this blog I hope to document more of my daily life and more importantly I want to document more of my girls' lives.  When I was in high school I kept a journal, and I'm so glad that I did!  It is so fun to go back and read about things that I have long since forgotten or to reference when specific events in my life took place.  In the future I'd love it if my girls could look back on my blog and get a glimpse of what their lives were like when they were little.  I'll also probably mix up my posts with a little bit of--hmm--everything.  Everything that I enjoy.  Family.  Faith.  Cooking.  Fashion.  Housekeeping.  Organizing.  School.  Reading.  Self-improvement.  Crafting.  Y'know, anything that comes to mind.  I'm sorry in advance for the randomness.  I plan to learn how to be a better blogger, but I figured I'd just learn as I go.  If I kept waiting for "the perfect time," I would never begin.  Beginning this blog is what's important to me.  I can fine-tune it later.

The second blog that I want to start is a beauty blog!  If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with beauty/makeup products.  O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D.  I love makeup!  It's my hobby.  I discovered the online beauty community through a Google search (God bless Google) which led me to a video from MakeupByTiffanyDI have been hooked on YouTube ever since.  While I love watching beauty videos and keeping up with beauty blogs, it's not enough for me anymore to just watch/read.  I want to be involved too!  So, I'm going to get my feet wet with a blog and hopefully a YouTube channel will go live too.  Honestly, I'm afraid of my camera.  I'll just add "face your fears" to my resolutions list.  Be on the lookout for my new beauty blog :).

When I wake up, next post:  A list of all my 2012 New Year's Resolutions.

Goodnight!
